DRAWING ON THE COMMON

SO MANY OLD AND PRESENT ROCHE CHILDREN CAME TO THE BIG DRAW ON WIMBLEDON COMMON ON THE 1ST OCTOBER 2011. This was my favourite art piece at the Venice Biennale.
We have no fixed art room this term at the Roche School, which is extremely exciting. Keeping me on my toes and making us all much more creative.

We did a community Arts Project with Wandsworth Arts Events and the Wandsworth Arts Festival and we are all about to embark on another Big Draw event at Wimbledon Windmill Museum on the 1st October 2011.

I have joined up with Etta Southard and formed the Art Pear.

Can’t believe a whole two terms have flown by and this little corner of the internet was getting dusty. There has been a lot happening in the art room. We have been part of the Big Draw on Wimbledon Common in October 2011. Susie Prus was Artist in Residence there and the photos can be seen on Facebook with a link from www.drawingonthecommon.com
This term has seen a flurry of weather vanes, kites and anything that moves in the wind being made as Susie Prus has been commisioned to work as a community artist with Brandlehow, St Josephs and The Roche to produce a Windy Sculpture for the Wandsworth Arts Festival.

The art room has been buzzing.

We have made and used egg tempera to paint with. We have built a tudor village in clay and we’re going to set fire to it and replicate the great fire of London.

We have been to look at the art of contemporary artists at the Saatchi collection and more traditional artists at the `V and A’. We have just got back from the National Gallery where we sketched our way around the galleries.

Exciting news my next project as an artist is being based at the Windmill Museum on Wimbledon Common on the 9th October 2010. Where I am setting up art activities for all ages and their animals and bikes. Be part of my art work! Come and join the Budding, Reluctant, Proficient, Extraordinarily talented, some four legged artists between 11 and 5. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain!

SPRING TERM 2010

There has been so much going on in the art room. Tile work, paintings and art making. I have been teaching teachers about pottery and even made a book called Play with Clay! Above is a picture of my hands making a coil pot over a form. Keep bringing your favourite pictures into the art room and well done to all who have brought in their sketch books.
