18 August 2008

Everything in our hire car has been stolen , feel sick and am now inebriated. Even my new vintage Gucci handbag. My purse has now been stolen 2x in 5 days. All our cameras and my new book for book club, the Dickens. Spent hours at Police station. Phones, my iphone, ipod, cameras, money, hidden in back of locked car, left for 20 minutes while we walked on a beach. All my possessions have gone apart from my computer.

Great to go off on holiday at last. Really need it.  Love the Tale of 2 Cities by Dickens, can’t put it down. Love my bag. Husband negotiated to buy neighbours Prius as they are moving to Dubai, should cut the cost of petrol etc and greener for the environment.

19 August 2008

Have no money to spend relying on husband who refuses to give me any money, got 20 euros from him and spent 10 on a poster for smallest daughter and then daughter found Tale of 2 Cities in the fourth bookshop we tried. Spent €11.20 so had to borrow more from husband.  He is totally unsympathetic.  He’s already bought himself a new camera today.  A new iphone is going to be really expensive, I don't think I have insurance.  Went  to The thieves market in Lisbon saw so many phones and cameras but not mine.  An iphone will probably be £350 without a contract.

20 August

2008

Went to Sintra, still didn’t spend any money relying on husband for meals and entrance fees to galleries. Sintra is Beautiful. Popped into police Station, no bag has turned up.  Took husband and daughter to an open air opera, `Marriage of figaro, it was free, cold and traditional, only stayed one act. Oldest daughter has got into American Drama School. expensive

21 August 2008

Borrowed a free bike today but not one small enough for the smallest daughter. So took it back after 30 minutes. Did a supermarket shop, husband paid as I have no money and he still won’t give me any.  Picniced in a depressing place and went to the most westerly point of europe, very cold. Got picked up by a very young portugal man hilarious for a middle aged women, I laughed and told him to buzz off.  Husband took us to a fabulous fishy restaurant where we saw dolphins playing in the sea.

22 August 2008

Went to gym first thing, saw the young lad and pretended that nothing had happened.  Went with husband and daughter to play on rocks, Car got broken into again today. Watched surreptitiously as 2 smart men in a new red golf parked next to our car and proceeded to break the lock again, wasted more time at police station as the men drove off hastily as soon as they realized that I had seen them up to no good. Police excited  although this supposedly happens all the time, witnesses cant be bothered to report things ,not surprisingly as when we got to the police station the policeman didn't want to see us as he was eating his lunch even though the office was supposedly open. Wasted more time trying to find the local  car hire firm which had closed down and nobody had informed us. Given 20 euros by husband to pay for daughters croc charm and entrance  fee to museum, he really is a miser.

23 August 2008

Went to the Thieves market again to look for my handbag but only had a lead on my ipod shuffle, which then got sold or pinched before I got there. No sign of anything mine but 7 ipods were being touted obviously stolen from Germany, France and Italy, no English and not my type of music, all offered between €30-120.  Wanted to see if there were photos on them but couldn't get them to work.  Husband gave me €150 to buy back my stuff if it showed up. I spent €5 on a coffee for my husband and ice tea for my daughter and he kept the change.

24 August 2008

Again I spent no money as husband spent  again.  Off back to London an uneventful day.  Gigilo Gym, the young lad who tried to seduce me in the steam room came and said goodbye! Gave all my money back to husband who says he’ll change it in London

25 August 2008

Very tired, plane delayed, easy jet with not so Speedy Boarding.  It makes me feel very guilty shoving past babies with their mums.  Didn’t get home until 4 this am.

had rows with 02 about my iphone, they said I could pick one up at an 02 shop but  I can’t just buy one I have to have a contract, which I have but I now have no phone. Went to get replacement hand bag and purse, good bargains at TKMaxx.  Love this new bag but nothing beats the Gucci! Had to buy a replacement charger for my very old phone about 4 years old to get it working.  Nice to have it back, it’s like an old friend.
